The first edition of the Sri Lankan T20 Premier League will include seven teams from seven provinces, with three being created in 2011. Aside from the Nagenahira Nagas and the Uthura Oryxes each of these teams have played in a previous Inter-Provincial tournament. Two more provinces are to join the tournament within the next three years.
